New 2010 Cadillac SRX 4 – Dent for Lexus RX ?
Lexus is the biggest luxury brand (by sales) in US. And in the Lexus stable, RX is the largest one (close to 12k units a year). Some estimates put Lexus outselling Cadillac almost 5 to 1.
Before the 2009 NAIAS Detroit show – GM unveiled their new 2010 SRX 4, which goes head to head with RX. We have always had a soft corner for the SRX and have been on a watch out for a good PreOwnedCar (wink, wink – sorry, couldn’t resist the plug !).
The new one has more sharp straight edge styling – on the inside than on the outside compared to previous model.
Here are the pictures of 2009

and the new 2010.

Personally, I think I still like the older model better but the new one might grow on me. Either way, now that there is a distinct new model out, I hope more of the older model hit the PreOwnedCar market place – there are too precious few of them (which bodes well for the model).
The new SRX comes with a V6 (2 engine choices) and, for a change, GM seems to have concentrated on fuel economy as well (expected to be in mid-20s on highway). Nothing like a crisis to wake up our auto companies.
With the new administration coming to Washington with a stated focus on jobs in America. Any resurgence towards American Makes might be a nice timely tailwind for the SRX.
While we do not expect new SRX to overtake RX – a good dent into Lexus RX numbers might bode real well for GM.
Can not wait to see what custom shops do with the new SRX. Please drop me a note (preferably with photos) if you see a particularly interesting one – Sri at PreOwnedCar dot com.
Hopefully GM will follow, quickly, with hybrid version before gas prices start hitting the roof again.
Enjoy the video and as always Drive Safe !
